Biography

Cameron was born in 1921. He passed away in 2008.

"Dr. West received his baccalaureate degree from the University of North Carolina in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Following the war, he served as a public school administrator in Fairmont, and Jacksonville, while earning his master's and doctoral degrees from UNC. In 1956, he began a long and distinguished career in higher education at Pfeiffer College (now University), Misenheimer, where he served as Professor of Education from 1956-60 and Academic Dean from 1960-66. Following an interval of 12 years, Dr. West returned to Pfeiffer as President from 1978 until his retirement in 1988. After retirement, he served as a consultant to Elon College (now University), Elon, NC, and as interim president of Brevard College, Brevard. He was named a life trustee of Brevard College in 1993 by the Board of Trustees. Dr. West also served as a board member of the Foundation for International Education, Chapel Hill, and was involved in founding the Visiting International Faculty Program (VIF), the largest teacher exchange program in the United States." ^[1]
