Albert was born in Adelaide, South Australia during 1898. He is the son of Albert Westbury and Ellen Farmer. He passed away in France during 1917.
Albert was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 28 October 1898 to Albert Westbury and Ellen Farmer.[1]
Albert served in the Australian Army in the First World War. He enlisted on 14 September 1916 and embarked for Europe on 6 November 1916 on HMAT A19 Afric as part of the 50th Battalion, 7th Reinforcement.[2]
Albert was killed in action in France on 26 September 1917 at the age of 19 years.[2]
Albert is one of the 56,000 soldiers (including 6,178 Australians) killed during the Ypres campaign, who has no known place of burial. He and the other 56,000 soldiers are commemorated by name within a building called the Menin Gate Memorial located in Ypres, Belgium.[2]
