Biography

Virginia was born in 1919. She was the daughter of Ralph White and Emma Bannister. She passed away in 1988.^[1] My Aunt Virginia was a kind and generous woman. She lived her entire life in Junction City, KS. She grew up in a large poor family. As the youngest surviving child she received more advantages than her older siblings. She finished high school. She married John Grentner who became postmaster. In about 1960 she was confirmed in the Catholic Faith. She believed in Christian charity and tried to help those who needed it. She took an interest in the young army wives who were tenants in the several apartments and houses she and John owned. She had excellent taste and always dressed well. Interior decorating was a strong interest and her several sister-in-laws often consulted her on clothes and houses. She had no children but took an interest in her youngest nieces, Mary Lynn White, Marjorie Judith White, and Susan Elizabeth White. She gave beautiful presents and invitations to her house were filled with fancy candy, paper doll projects, and more. She made the best chicken salad sandwiches ever known. Her health was never good and she was at times depressed and anxious. Her brothers sometimes made fun of her. - Mary L. White wrote this short bio.
