Biography
Samuel Whitehead was born in 1835 in Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom.
He was married to Eliza and came to New Zealand about 1861 possibly on the Mermaid with two children.[1] The New Zealand-born children of Samuel and Eliza were:

- John
- Samuel
- Emily
- Ellen[2]
Samuel died on 27 June 1928 in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand, aged 92. He was buried in Tikorangi Cemetery, Tikorangi.
