John was born about 1765. He was the son of John Whitman and Bettey Tirrell. Not sure if he died in New Hampshire or Vermont.
There seem to be two sets of John and Sarah Whitmans living around the same time. One set seemed to stay in the Massachusetts area and one set seemed to move to New Hampshire.
Trying to untangle the families of John and Sarah (Chubbuck) Whitman and John and Sarah (Stow) Whitman.
There is a Sons of the American Revolution member document that gives some lineage.[1]
There is a John Whitman Jr. on the 1800 Census for Andover, Vermont. This may or may not be him, very uncertain. Did not see any neighbors who were relatives of his or Sarah's.[2]
There is a John Whitman on the 1810 Census for Landgrove, Vermont. Two neighbors are John Whitman and Samuel Whitman, who are likely sons of John the elder.[3]
