Sarah Effie Whitten was born on December 2, 1884 in Steprock, White, Arkansas, United States, daughter of James Luther Whitten (~1858–~1925) and Sarah Martin (1859–1914).

Sarah (23) married Albert McKaig (23) (born on August 12, 1884 in Kansas, United States) on March 8, 1908 in Independence, Arkansas. ^[1]

Sarah married Charles Edgar Doyle (born on October 14, 1875 in Arkansas; son of William Doyle).

In the 1900 census Sarah (age 16) was the single daughter of James L Whitten in Denmark Township, White, Arkansas, United States.^[2] James L Whitten 41, wife Sarah Whitten 41, son Andrew F Whitten 17, daughter Sarah E Whitten 16, son James L Whitten 11, daughter Laura J Whitten 9, son Albert M Whitten 6.
