In 1881 Census, Richard was at his grandparents house Richard and Ann Widdowson both 57 years old so were born in 1824 which I suspect are Widdowson-22 and Carrot-16. They had a son Henry who could be Richards father and has been allocated as such, however, in Henrys profile thread there is no mention of a Richard in that Henrys children, the first born being Arthur Edward in 1877. Henry didnt get married until 1876 and Richard was born in 1872 casting more doubt. Henry would have been 20 at Richards birth so there is a chance that he is the father of an earlier marriage/ relationship though his wedding day description as bachelor questions this, or Richard is illegitimate. Henry and Mary were described as bachelor and spinster on their wedding day. Only two other sons could be Richards father. Richard, less likely as he died at 19 but possible, or George born 1848 about whom little is known after 1861 Census when he was 13. Other than the grandson link in the 1881 Census, it could also be possible that Richards father is another Henry of a different line pre Richard and Ann No other Census records of Richard after 1881.
Richard was born in 1872. [1]
He is the son of Henry Widdowson. Note: Not convinced about this
