Mary married Joseph Gaskell on 12 Feb 1821 at the church of St Peter and St Paul in Ormskirk, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; the witnesses were Ann Brown and George Wignall.

By March 30th 1851, they were living in Billinge Chapel End, Lancashire; Joseph was a tanner farmer. Mary's niece Ann, her sister Ann's daughter, was living with them (her mother Ann had died in 1847.)
