Biography

Daughters of the American Revolution
Susie Williams was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Susie was born about 1884. She was the daughter of Dr. John Tompkins (Or F.) Williams and Susie Montz. She passed away in 1966.

At one time she owned a doll made of black wax, with real hair, that had been made by Miss Clara Poe, great-aunt of Edgar Allan Poe, who had also made other things of wax.

She was a popular pianist on WHAS (AM) in Louisville, during the late 1920s.

Member of the United States Daughters of 1812 (General Zachary Taylor chapter)[1], the DAR and the Huguenot Society of Kentucky.

She also inherited a linen cambric handkerchief that had once been intended to be presented to Empress Eugenie, last Empress of the French. The handkerchief was embroidered by two Swiss women, workers for Little and Sons, a Swiss firm at Neufchatel, who went blind shortly after its completion. At the time of its making, about 1855, it was valued at $1500. The handkerchief was exhibited at the London Exposition of 1862, the Worlds Fair and the Nashville Exposition.
