James Williams migrated from Wales to New Zealand.
James was born in 1837.
In 1859 at Newport, Monmouthshire, he married Frances Avery. They came to New Zealand around 1861-1863.

He passed away 16 November 1898. He is buried at Waikumete.

In about 1933 his children became eligible for a share in his father's estate in Wales, which had been on hold for the life of a tenant. The children at this time were:

Sarah Ann Hagen wife of Wilson Hagen of Auckland, power board assistant.
He was married once only and his wife died 17 September 1922.
At time of death he was believed to have no estate, but in about 1933 it came to light that James's father's estate was up for distribution after the life tenant had died.
