It has been reported that Leota (Allen) Kirkhart - Martha's daughter, shortly before her death, related the following story to her daughter-in-law, Ramonia Kirkhart, who was at the time working on Family Genealogy:
Martha Alice reportedly shot and killed her mother-in-law, Amelia Allen in a shooting accident at their farm. This information has not yet been substantiated. If possible, we will need to find newspaper clippings from the area reporting the incident.
