Hazel was born in 1912. She is the daughter of Barney Williamson and Mary Morrison.
Hazel grow up at Abbotsford Station, Ivanhoe and went on to be educated at Orange.
She married Albert John "Mac" McPaul at Randwick in 1941. During the war, she returned to Ivanhoe while her husband was stationed in Queensland.
