James Elmer Williamson was born on 22 April 1862 in Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois, United States.[1]
James (23) married Anna Lena Sansom (21) (born on 15 March 1865 in Pontiac, Livingston, Illinois, United States) on 30 March 1886 in Humboldt, Richardson, Nebraska, United States.[2] Their son was Berton Wayne Williamson (3 April 1892 – 2 March 1981).
James died on 7 April 1940 in Falls City, Richardson, Nebraska, United States, aged 77. He was buried in Mound Cemetery, Humboldt, Richardson County, Nebraska.[1]
PIONEER RESIDENT OF RICHARDSON COUNTY CALLED HOME
James Elmer Williamson was born April 23 1862 at Rockford, Ill. and passed away at 2 p.m. Sunday April 7, at the Falls City hospital, at the age of 77 years 11 months and seven days, Death was caused by nephritis, with pulmonary congestion. He had been in failing health for about a year, but bedfast only a few days.
Mr. Williamson was the oldest and last survivor of seven children. In 1871, when nine years old, he came with his parents J. N. and Julia E. Williamson, to Nebraska, driving through in a covered wagon to Brownville, where they crossed the Missouri river on a ferry boat. The family located on a farm five miles southeast of Humboldt. A few years later they bought the home place where Elmer and family have lived for the last 48 years.
On March 30, 1886, he was married to Annie Sansom of Humboldt, and to this union seven children were born, The two oldest daughters, Pearl and Edith, died in childhood. The other five were born and reared on the home place, four miles east of Humboldt, which has always been a happy home.
When a young man Mr. Williamson was converted and joined the Christian church of Humboldt and has been a faithful and loyal servant of the church through the years. He was a man who loved his home and was honored in the home by his good wife and children who are following in his footsteps, Having been a resident of this community for so many years he was known to young and old as an upright honest citizen and was held in high esteem by his neighbors and friends, of whom he had many. He had always been a good provider and a devoted husband and father.
Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Williamson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
In departing this life he leaves three sons, Berton W. Williamson, Dawson, Roy E. Williamson of Vanscoy, Sask., Canada, Huber R. Williamson of Humboldt, two daughters, Mrs. Curtis Hill of Dawson, and Mrs. Clarence Workman, Table Rock, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Humboldt at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ray D. Borgaard, pastor of the church. A quartet composed of Frank Rist, Jack Rediger, Jack Cernohlavek, and Lloyd Stalder, sang “In the Garden” “Remember Me” and “Have Thine Own Way Lord”. The pall bearers were Fred Fankhauser, Merle Draper, August Utermohlen, Logan Cornelius, Albert Rist and Frank Fergus. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery.
