James passed away in Lavalette, Wayne County, West Virginia on 13 Dec 1962 at age 61. He is buried in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Barboursville, Cabell County, West Virginia. [6][7]
James' Last Will and Testament dated 22 Sep 1962 was filed and probate opened in Cabell County, West Virginia on 19 Dec 1962. According to his Will, his daughter Betty was living in Iowa, but the whereabouts of his son Charles was unknown. In 1940, Charles is 13 years old. By 1945, he would have been 18 and was likely drafted. It is probable that he killed in action while serving in the military during WWII.
