Biography

Phillip Edward Winbourn, son of Philip Henry Winborn a fisherman and Ada Lucretia Wheeler was born in Hastings, Sussex and his birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1889 in the Hastings district.^[1][2]

Phillip (age 21), child of Phillip Winborn, married Eva Pankhurst on 21 April 1912 at Ore Christ Church, Sussex.^[3]

Philip served in the Great War with the (Duke of Cambridge's Own) Middlesex Regiment, 4th Battalion (Regimental Number G/50678), and was killed in action on 19 January 1918; Private Philip Edward Winborn is buried in Hooge Crater Cemetery, Zillebeke, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium.^[4][5] He was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War medal.^[6]
