Biography

BIOGRAPHY

Max was born in 1936 and passed away in 2007. He attended SDSU for two years ,where he played football on a scholarship. then moved to Davenport, Iowa where he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic. He graduated in October 1960.

CAREER AND AWARDS

Dr. Winkler started his practice in Pierre, SD. While in Pierre, a number of his years were spent as secretary treasure of SDCA (South Dakota Chiropractic Association). In 1974, he was named Chiropractor of the Year. Dr. Max was involved in State and National Jaycees, Oahe Shrine Club and Masons, and was a city commissioner. As a member of the Oahe toastmasters, he won local and national awards as a speaker. A highlight in Dr. Max's life was at Mount Rushmore on July 4th, 1976 when he created and presented his personal speech "Just a Rag" for the Bicentennial Celebration.

Dr. Max William Winkler is buried in the Piedmont Cemetery.
