Biography

Edna was born in 1905 to Emerson and Ella (Hardison) Winstead. She would stay single for several years living as a boarder while working and attending college. She received the B. A. Degree from Atlantic Christian College in 1939. On May 19, 1942, she married Robert Livingston Freeman, son of Robert G. Freeman and wife Carrie Louise Dobbins. He was born in Rutherford County on November 29, 1901. He received his B. A. from Atlantic Christian College in 1950 and his M. A. from the University of North Carolina in 1951. Edna and Robert would have one child, Eloise Livingston Freeman, born on December 8, 1945.

Edna and Robert would relocate to South Carolina and live out their years. Edna passed away in 2001 at the age of 96 years.
