Thomas was born in 1850^[1] He was the son of James Winter and Sophia Pearce. He was christened 4th ay 1851 in Yalding, Kent, England^[2] He was living with his parents, siblings and aunt at Luckhurst Lane, Yalding, Kent, England in 1851^[3] He was still living with his parents and siblings at Coxheath, Hunton, Kent, England and he was attending school in 1861^[4] He was a private at Gillingham, Kent, England and he was employed as a soldier in 1871^[5] He married Mary Winchester in St. Saviour Southwark, London, England in 1884^[6] He was living with his wife and son at Boston Road, Hanwell, Middlesex, England and he was working as a Coal Porter in 1891^[7] He was still living with his wife and son at Bishops Road, Hanwell, Middlesex, England and he was working as a Greenman On Tolfhinks in 1901^[8]
