MAN DIES IN FALL.
Flagstaff (AP) -- A 26-year-old New Jersey man fell to his death and his companion was injured in a hiking accident on the south side of Mt. Eldon, east of here, authorities said Sunday. Coconio County sheriff's deputies identified the dead man as HOWARD WITTLIN, an assistant attorney general from Princeton, N.J. The injured man was identified as a IRA MARK STEINMETZ, 27, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Authorities said the incident occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday when the two hikers attempted to come down the south face of the mountain and encountered a drop-off to a ledge.
