Laura was born in Hancock, New York, on 17 July, 1904, to Lester Woolsey and Olive Hill. She spent her entire childhood in Hancock, in a large house that acted as a doctor's office and joint home for her family and the family of her uncle, Frank Woolsey.
She married Albert LeRoy Davis, in Martinsville, Virginia, on 7 September, 1946.
She spent much of her later life as a painter and artist in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. She passed away in 1990.
