Martha Worchester is disproved as wife of William Bacon. In Colonial Families of Philadelphia and in Bacon's Adventure, which is where the idea that Martha is the wife of William Bacon started, the pedigree was quoted from the work of Gustav Anjou of New York. The work of Gustav Anjou has been thoroughly discredited, and he has been proved to have invented much of the "pedigree" for Samuel Bacon, and other pedigrees he was paid to produce. Unfortunately, those works have been widely copied, and the error is repeated. The New England branches of those two biographies were not tainted - just the part that quoted Anjou - Martha Worchester and her ancestors. [3]
