Biography

Martha Worcester aka Worchester [1]

Birth: abt 1593 or abt 1600 Suffolk, England
Death: about 1626 England

(birth: 1597 [2]) (Difference Birth and Death Dates on other sources)

Parents:

Peter Worchester
Elizabeth (Roberts)

Martha was not married to William Bacon and she was not the mother of Elizabeth (Bacon) Allen or of Samuel Bacon. The FamilySearch references form Martha Worcester, quoted in many genealogies are invalid, based on fraudulent a source. See NOTE below.Dellinger-332

NOTE: The American Genealogist of 1981, Volume 57, page 105-107, shows that the ancestors of Samuel Bacon are unknown except for his parents, William and Ane (last name at birth Unknown).

Martha Worchester is disproved as wife of William Bacon. In Colonial Families of Philadelphia and in Bacon's Adventure, which is where the idea that Martha is the wife of William Bacon started, the pedigree was quoted from the work of Gustav Anjou of New York. The work of Gustav Anjou has been thoroughly discredited, and he has been proved to have invented much of the "pedigree" for Samuel Bacon, and other pedigrees he was paid to produce. Unfortunately, those works have been widely copied, and the error is repeated. The New England branches of those two biographies were not tainted - just the part that quoted Anjou - Martha Worchester and her ancestors. [3]

Martha Worcester was not the wife of William Bacon. Her connection to William Bacon comes from a discredited person who faked genealogies for profit, Gustave Anjou. See also The American Genealogist vol 57, page 105, producing over 150 books in his lifetime, which are still quoted.
