Biography
Jane was born in 1854[1] in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England, where she lived with her parents, William and Caroline, on Robinson's Yard in 1861.[2] At the time of the 1871 census, Jane lived and worked as a domestic servant at 4 Amhurst Road in Hackney, London.[3]
In 1876 she married John HANCOCK.[4] The family lived in the Northamptonshire village of Watford in 1881; John was a railway platelayer's labourer.[5] By 1891 they had moved to Roade, Northamptonshire, but Jane and their son Frank were also shown visiting her parents in Long Buckby in 1891, so were on the census twice.
