Nathaniel Jarvis Wyeth was born at Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts 29 Jan 1802, died there 29 Aug 1856, son of Jacob Wyeth (1764-1857) and Elizabeth (Jarvis0 Wyeth (abt 1768-1858); married 29 Jan1824 Elizabeth Jarvis Stone, (his cousin) daughter of Phineas Stone. No Children.
Nathaniel Jarvis Wyeth organized a trip to the American west in 1832, by ship to Brownsville, Texas, then up the Missouri River, along what later was known as the Oregon Trail, attended the mountain man rendezvous, got caught up in the Battle of Pierre’s Hole, Idaho and stayed at to Fort Vancouver, Washington. After a few months he returned east, made a second expedition in 1834 and built with others Fort William in present-day Washington State. After Trapping and trading for the next two years he again returned, unable to compete with the Hudson's Bay Company. Back east, he established an ice business that was a financial success.
