Biography

(John) Michael Yeakle / Yeakley was most likely born May 9, 1774 in Hickory Corner(s), Northumberland, Pennsylvania to parents George Yeakley and Anna Deppen .
According to the Jackell's Gap Evangelical Church Registry, he was baptized on June 5th of the same year with parents "John Georg J/Yackel and wife Anna..." in attendance.


He passed away in 1866 or January 23, 1844 in Butler, Ohio, United States. [1]

Transcribed from CHURCH BOOK OF THE EVANGELICAL CONGREGATION AT JACKELS, IN JACKELS GAP, 1777: Parents, John Georg Jackel and wife Anna. Son, Johan Michael, born the 9th May, bapt. the 5th June 1774. Sponsor, Michael Lenckert.

Parents, Joh. Nicl. Bopp and wife Magdalena. Daughter, Juliana born the 21st of July, bapt. the 7th August 1774. Sponsor, Juliana Prosius, single.

Facts

"...Most of the early well-to-do farms included a still, for the brewing of wine and liquor from fruits and grain, because the former was perishable and the latter bulky for market purposes and in concentrated form marketed to nearby cities, by boat. The owner was often his own Cooper, especially, in the case of Michael Yeakle, who owned a 45 ft square building with a cut "M. YEAKLE 1815." later run by Michael, Jr.
Michael Yeakle's estate in Hanover County, Ohio - Book: 8, page 262, February 17, 1844 - Michael Yeakle died: January 23, 1844 - sons John M. and Jacob gave bond on their father's estate - Michael's wife, Julia died prior to September 12, 1843 - heirs as follow: John; Michael; David; Catherine Sellers; Mary Galey; Anna Farlow; childrfen of Eliz Y. Bealor, Michael: John: Julia A.; Hannah; and Anna L. Bealor; children of Jacob Yeakle, deceased, William; Lydia; and David Yeakle; children of Lydia Y. Descompes, Francis; Julia; Elizabeth; Henry; David; Jacob; Lydia; Mary A.; and Michael Descompes, all released from Ohio in 1846 and 1847. In the estate of Michael Yeakle, Sr. in Ohio---a note due the estate from a brother Nicholas Yeakle (residence not mentioned) was declared bad, 1843.

Yeakle-39 and Yeakley-46 appear to represent the same person because: Either direction is fine because I see where FindaGrave used the YEAKLE spelling despite all siblings and parents using the Yeakley spelling and sources aren't adequate to say for certain. I am working on his mother's page this week and have been sourcing intermittently but it is clear from little exists on the pages that these two men were created for the same person
