2. Paul enlisted as a private in the United States Army on 14 Nov 1942, for the duration of WWII, plus six months, in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It also indicates he is single and without dependents, and is a skilled butcher.[2] Paul entered active service on 28 Nov 1942 at New Cumberland, and spent 15 months in domestic service and 22 months in foreign service. 4. Paul’s obituary appeared in the Reading Eagle/Reading Times, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, 1 August 1998, on page B-3, and reads: Paul H. Youndt, 78, of 591 Fivepointville Road, Denver, Lancaster County, died Thursday at 7:45 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient one day. He was the husband of Henrietta (Showalter) Youndt. Born in Brecknock Township, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Jennie (Hornberger) Youndt. Youndt was employed 60 years as a butcher in his family’s business, Charles Youndt & Sons, retireing in 1994. He had been a co-partner in the business. He was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, Bowmansville, Lancaster County. Youndt was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a life member of the Adamstown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, and a charter member of the Blue Ribbon Hunting Camp of Potter County. He is also survived by a son, Richard P., Ephrata; and two daughters: Lynda K. (Youndt) Cooper, Mohnton, and Mary L. (Youndt) Renninger, Denver. Other survivors include four sisters: Florence H. (Youndt) Weinhold, Ephrata; Helen H. (Youndt) Wolf, Denver; Edna H. (Youndt) Musser, Emmaus, Lehigh County; and Stella H. (Youndt) Hawthorne, Saint Petersburg, Florida. Also surviving are three brothers: Pherl Youndt, Leola, Lancaster County; and Ralph H. and Donald H. Youndt, both of Denver. There are also five grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Saint Paul’s UCC. Burial will be in Terre Hill Cemetery, Lancaster County. Good Funeral Home and Cremation Centre Inc., Reamstown, Lancaster County, is in charge of arrangements.[6]
