Biography

Margaret was born in 1789. She was the daughter of Henry Zabriskie and Wyntje Lydecker.^[1]

She married Jacob Quackenbush in Bergen in 1809.^[2]

She passed away in 1811, in childbirth along with her unnamed son. She was buried at the Old North Reformed Church Cemetery, Dumont, Bergen County, New Jersey.

I am writing to you because I received notice that you have update information in the Zabriskie line. You should be aware that the Zabriskie surname is not accurate and the Quackenbush last name is not actually a name. As with most Dutch lines they use the name of the town as their last name, such as is the case you have here. You have updated a Margaret (Zabriskie) Quackenbush (1789-1811). Quackenbush is is a TOWN NAME not a last name. The truth of the matter is that the real last name should be "Lubbertzsen" or "van Blaricom" this is where the original name came from. No one will be able to be added to this line because their surnames are not "Quackenbush". In records this name might be shown but it only denaotes the town where they are from, nothing more. Here is a link to a book written on this subject. The original immigrant on this family is a man by the name of Lubbert Ghijsbertzen van Blaircom. His son's used the same naming system as the father using towns as they did in the Netherlands to name people by their town. All Zabriskie's generate from this line, their sur name should NOT be Changed to another name when none exists. Here is a link to the book.
