Georg had a younger brother by the same name who was baptized on September 9, 1685. He likely died, which is why his parents might have reused the same name a second time. This was common practice. [1]
Georgius Zeitler was baptized on September 18, 1690 in Bretzingen, Buchen, Baden. His father's name was Leonardi Zeitler and his mother's Barbara. [2][3]
Marriage
This is bizzarre! There are two marriage records similar but different in date (by 10 days), and grooms parents names:
1.
On July 17, 1711, Georgius Zeitler and Margaretha were married in Götzingen, Buchen, Baden. His parents were Leonardi Zeitler and Margaretha. Her parents were Michaelis Cuntzman and Barbara {no maiden name]. [4]
2.
On July 27, 1711 Georg Zeitler and Margaretha Cunzman were married at the Catholic Church in Grötzingen, Buchen, Baden, Germany. His father was listed as Conrad Zeitler and his mother as Barbara. Her parents were listed as Michael Cunzmann with no mother listed. [5]
Given that they are so smiliar, one of them must be a transcription error. The newest of the two, (17 July), is taged with a link to the actual image. Until we can view the original records, this is the one to follow.
Georg's name does not appear in other church records in Grötzingen, a further indication that he was not born there. However his wife's parents do which indicates that this was her home town.
