Biography

Sergeant Fred Zobel served in the United States Army in World War I
Service started: 1918
Unit(s):
Service ended: 1919

Fred was a carpenter who was born in 1894. His parents were Gustav Zobel and Margaret Ralston. [1]

He was living with his parents and brother at 4737 Superior St. in Chicago in 1910. [2]

Fred had married Helen Wolf by the time he received his draft notice for WWI in 1917. [3] He served in the military from 1918 to 1919. [4]

Fred and Helen had two children: Frederick and Phillip. They also had an unnamed daughter in 1918 who died on the same day she was born. In 1940, the small family was living at 4845 Huron Street in Chicago. [5] Fred eventually built his own house in Northlake, Illinois. Sadly, the house was torn down in the 1990's and is now a parking lot.

Fred died on 18 December 1983, just two days after the death of his wife. [6] He is buried in Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
