Yi Jin [이 진], Prince Eunsin, was born about 1755 Gregorian calendar (11 January 1755 lunar calendar) in Hanesong, Kingdom of Joseon (now Korea).[1] His parents were Crown Prince Sado and his concubine, Royal Noble Consort Suk.[2]
In 1762, his father the Crown Prince was executed by his own father King Yeongjo for treason, and Yi Jin was left unprotected and in poverty.[2]
He married Lady Hong of Namyang in 1769, she was the daughter of a court official Hong Dae-hyeon. They had no issue.[2]
King Yeongjo sent him to exile on Jeju Island in Daejeong in 1771. Within two months, on 29 March 1771 lunar calendar, he became sick from an epidemic and died. He was 16 years old.[2][1]
In 1776, after he had died, and according to the will of King Yeongjo, he was posthumously appointed to be the heir to Prince Yeolleong, his great uncle. In 1779 he was given the poshumous name "Somin", which was changed in 1871 to "Chungheon".[2]
In 1815, a fifth-great-grandson of King Injo was appointed to be Prince Eunsin's adopted son, and given a new name Yi Gu.[2]
