Can we have a category for "War Effort Participant"?

My Dad was in the service in WWII; I was able easily find a category for him.  My Mom played piano in the USO all during WWII and took over the job of a man who was drafted - I found no category for her, but she made an enormous conttibution.

I think the women and parents who stayed home and supported the war effort are equally important.  I would like to have a War Effort category with sub-categories such as USO, defense industry workers, Gold Star Mothers.

My interest is mainly WWII since my father served and my Mom's only brother was lost.  But this is equally important to any family who contributed in any war.

Hi Kristina,

You can technically create any category you want by adding [[Category: Desired Category Name]] to a profile, then clicking on the link (which will be displayed in Red if it does not exist) and editing the page.

With that said it is often helpful to ask a question here in G2G (tagged "categorization" which I have added to this question for you) when you want assistance in picking the 'most appropriate' category name, or help deciding where a new category should 'fit in' as a sub-category.

Thank you.  I did mean to start a discussion and I appreciate your help.
Even though it is easy to add a category, don't forget to make sure it ends up in the right place overall. A lot of categories are sub categories of upper level categories.

Kristina,

Support for the military and their families is an important activity and role.

Gold Star Mothers as a category is now set up.  Note that it is set up with sub-categories by state.  A few states have been entered.  Others should be entered as needed.

It is under the category  United States Military Support Organizations  this is also a new category
