How do i see who has rejected the merge so i can ask them what info they have that precludes merging?

The other profile is

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Steeves-65

Please note: this has nothing to do with the family name Steeves being mistaken for Stevens.  Steeves is her maiden name; Stevens is her married name.

I proposed a merge because it looks like the pre-marriage profile with parents and sibs is actually for the same person as the post-marriage profile with the husband.  If they aren't, then one of them likely has a mistaken date of death, since they both have the same date.

But i'm not trying to solve the genealogy question just now; I'm interested in where to go to find out who rejected the merge, so we can chat and i can become enlightened as to why these are two distinct individuals.

Cheers

Good question!  I'm surprised that the information does not appear to be available.

Shirlea, I went back and looked at my own history of proposed merges.  I see that when I proposed a merge, I was notified when someone postponed it (converted it to an Unmerged Match).  I imagine that is the same for rejections, but I don't find any in my own experience.

Meanwhile, I'd think the number of people who can reject a match is fairly limited, just the profile managers.  Maybe someone else will have a better idea, but I'd suggest contacting them (starting with the most active).
no merge was proposed

when 478 was created, the PM said the pre-existing 65 was not a match and proceeded to finish 478
Ahh! Thanks! That makes sense.  I know I tried to propose the merge a few days ago, but it would not go thru because of the rejected match.  So just now, i tried again to propose the merge, and this time i removed the rejected match and tried again.  It is sitting as a proposed merge now.
I have approved the merge and in is now a 'pending merge'

I assume the owner of Steeves-65 needs to complete the merge

I'd like to have the reason why a match is rejected or postponed be required and posted on both profiles (and then the member taking the action would be able to be contacted if needed).  I am always grateful for the few comments that are left because then I can work on the problems.

Hello Shirlea.

Setting a "Rejected Match" is not recorded in the "Changes" log of the involved profiles. Different to removing a "Rejected Match" or proposing a merge. This two last actions are always recorded in the "Changes" log of both of the involved profiles.

(I just set a "Rejected Match" of two profiles, and the removed it. The only action listed in the "Changes" log of the profiles and in my "Contributions" is "You removed a match of ...")

In this case, the "Rejected Match" was not set to reject a proposed merge. There is not any merge proposal listed in the "Changes" log of the profiles.

You did the right thing removing the rejected match and proposing the merge.
