Need help to identify medal ribbon

I have identified all of my maternal grandfathers military medal ribbons except one. He was in the Navy, served during WWII, a meteorologist, Hurricane Hunter. I've searched and searched but unable to identify this one (see picture in below link). Anyone able to help point me in the right direction? Much appreciated.

The red/blue circle in the middle looks like it is related to Korea, and the star is a service star, denoting an additional award or service period.  I have not yet been able to find an identical ribbon in my searches.

That has been my challenge as well. The light blue with white stripes also appears a lot on United Nations ribbons. I also found it was interesting this one ribbon was by itself and not on one of the rows with his other ribbons. That told me it was given to him as a "special" ribbon for some type of service.

It definitely look like a Korean War ribbon because of the symbol in the center, but didn't the Korea War Service ribbon have a light blue stripe on the outsides, white, thin red, then yellow in the center?
You are right .... I think this might be another one of those Korean Merit Medals My Uncle had one for Cultural Merit. I have seen this recently.

Let me dig around some more
Ok, Think I might have it this time .... Maybe!

Republic of Korea: Order of Military Merit Chungmu: 3rd Class

The medal does have a Star on it so that might or might not Transfer to the ribbon. I could not find the matching Ribbon for the one but the 1 st class has the Red & Blue yin/yan symbol.
My challenge has also been I find some that are "almost" like it but not 100%. The light blue with white stripes also appears a lot on United Nations ribbons. And, I found it interesting this one ribbon was by itself and not on one of the rows with his other ribbons. Makes me wonder if it was given to him as a "special" ribbon for some type of service?
