Mentor to review my entries before I go too far?

Hi, can I ask for someone to review my work to see if I need to make adjustments to the way I've been adding sources, formatting, writing bio's? I'm finding that it takes quite a bit of time, and I have about 400 more to go through. So, before I jump in headfirst I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong and correct it.

I initially did a gedcom import, so have that messy source file problem. I've cleaned up some, but I'm not sure if it could be tighter/neater, or tips on speeding up the process.

Here's a few that I've worked on:

Please don't feel like you need to look at every one of these. I just wanted to include a few for variety.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,
Loralee

Hiya Loralee,

Not to bad on the first one. However you might want to talk to someone from categorization. For correct categorization. See: Categorization

Did you use wikitree+?

No, I'm not even sure what wikitree+ is, but I'll go take a look now! Is there a group of people who talk about categorization? I can self study too, but if there's someone I should talk to, I absolutely will.
awesome! I get it now. wikitree+ can help me tighten up my work. Thanks! Great resource

Well my only critique is there much extra in your code for example Source: #S1545557772. and the book long links. This gets confusing for many new people on wikitree. I not saying it bad work just perhaps here some help from the sources page.

Fundamentally, a good source citation enables others to:

  1. judge the accuracy of the information found on the profile, and
  2. independently verify the information by finding the source themselves.

You could use the Citation Machine to format sources.

Also see 2.4 Web page

For your categorization I think this is the top level category you was looking for and than you can look for the specific one

I see - yeah, that's helpful. I've moved things around quite a bit, and hopefully that will help. In the future I'll see if I can get rid of that extra stuff easily. I regret importing so many family members.... sigh
The Homesteaders sticker is for US profiles, as far as I know, for the Westward Ho subproject of US History.
Oh, that's a shame. I'll remove it then, and keep my eyes open for one that's available for Canadian Homesteaders.

p.s. it looks like you went ahead and did it for me. I would have been happy to do it. It's the best way for me to learn.

Hi, Loralee, and welcome to WikiTree.

One thing I see on an initial look is you can easily improve what is contained in your citations. Just drop me a private message from my profile page and I'd be happy to assist you.
