There is a comment on the father's profile, though not very prominent, saying John is still being investigated.  

Have you looked for sources that support John's profile data?  The ones listed are pretty useless.

You could:  Mark the parents as uncertain.  Add a research note.  Do more research to resolve the question.

I notice most of the children listed for Aquilla use this source: "The Descendants of Aquilla Greer, Sr., 1719-1790, Bertie "Bea" Greer O'Quin, 2005. www.familysearch.org, title #1283505. Page 301." Apparently this page lists 8 children.

Her work on the Aquilla line is widely cited and respected. Have you messaged the profile manager?
