Anyone have any information about Jasper J Mullins, b. 1881 d. 1963 in Kentucky.

Question

I have not been able to find the names of his parents. I know that as an adult he lived on the border of Knott and Floyd county Kentucky.  I think that he was also born in Kentucky, but I don't know what county.

I had a great uncle Jasper Mullins, but according to my records he was born in 1886. He lived near the Breathitt/ Perry county line. He was the son of Wiley Mullins and Matilda Deaton, and a bro. to my grandfather John Newton Mullins.

I believe that Jasper was born on August 14, 1881. He married Corrie/Carrie (Last name unknown) and then after her death or divorce, he married Rachel Moore.

His first wife was named Corsie. She was my Great Grandmother. My Grandmother (Mamaw) was Sarah and Corsie died when my Mamw Sarah was 12.

My Grandfather Jasper had a nickname. Everyone called him  High Pockets. Not sure why other than he was a tall man.

He later married Rachel and they had 3 sons.

Clyde, Clarke, & Carmel.

My Mamaw Sarah married my Papaw Charlie McKinley Adams. He passed away in 1963. And so did her Dad Jasper pass away in 1963.

She passed away in 1997

Clark was my grandpa and from what I remember being told, Jasper was called High Pockets because he wore overalls that had pockets on the top/bib.

You are right. His nickname was High Pockets. My Mamaw was his daughter Sarah. I met Clyde and Carmel but I don’t remember meeting Clark. I do remember hearing stories about him being very handsome.

Would love to know more about our family on the Mullins side. My Daddy was Billy Adams the Rockabilly Music Legend. He just passed away in March 2019

He told me some funny stories about High Pockets and his boisterous jolly laugh. He said I inherited that from him. :-)

in the 1900 Census there is a Jasper Mullins living with Edward H. Doak and

Susie Y Doak. Jasper shown as daughter,but that is wrong,original document

has do beside names which could mean Ditto.This is a school or boarding

house etc.Because there are 35 people there.Or that is an Orphanage.

And there are 2 Jasper Mullins 1 born April 1881 and the other Aug 14 1881.

You may contact Kentucky Vital records ,see if there is a birth record for both.
