Rhode island lacks "Colony" in place names in profile drop down birth and death locations

When adding place names (birth/marriage/death indicators in profile) for Rhode Island, there is no option to select an option for "Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations,", or a similar variant, for individuals prior to 1776.  I've attached this profile as an example.  Is there a way for the place to be added? I was unsure if this is similar to adding a place like a category, or if it requires alternative solutions.

EDITED: Removed British Colonial America given feedback.

For clarity, here's a relative of mine - in the birth place, it allows you to choose "Connecticut Colony" as an option - I'm only referring to location names in profile drop down: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Noble-1785

British Colonial America isn't really correct to use in data fields or categories.

Hi Lauren,

If you scroll down in this post to the "Related Questions", you can read some of the prior discussions about not using the term "British Colonial America".

See also the North American Place Names Space Page, which has a link to the Colonial North American Place Names Spreadsheet.

So, should it at least say "Rhode island Colony" for those born there pre 1776?
I edited the question for clarity, thank you for feedback.

My understanding is that the place name drop down locations to which you are referring are sourced from a Family Search global location database that is currently accessed by WikiTree to provide suggestions. They are just suggestions and may not follow the guidance for place names that specific WikiTree geographic/topical projects may have in place.

My understanding is that the North American Place Name spreadsheet linked above is being built/updated with feedback from the related WikiTree projects (United States, Canada, Quebecois, Acadians, Native Americans, others?).

It appears that the current spreadsheet guidance is to use "Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" for the time period 1663-1776.

Ah okay - I can fix this via FamilySearch then. Thank you!
Sorry I was not around yesterday to add to this discussion. Rick is correct in his comment above. Perhaps when the place name spreadsheet update is completed, some bots can be deployed to update the place names.

I believe it might also help to clarify to all members the origin of the place name options as there are very significant omissions and many do not know these are simply suggestions.

These answers are correct. We don’t use British Colonial America or similar variations as that was not a name in use. Also Family search supplies the drop down names and Many are incorrect in accordance with time and place actually used.

This spreadsheet has been created to give you place names by date for US and Canadian locations. You should use this. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1jlRaiRtaMEpsPdeuRLS2ids4HAXJyGVCKiQyEMh4NNE/htmlview#gid=667189750

I bookmark it and check it often. Counties are not included. They generally didn’t exist in Canada until the 1800’s. Idk about US implementation which probably varied.
