When Martha Amanda "May" Goodbread was born Abt 1855 in Glynn, Georgia, her father, Joseph, was 36, and her mother, Maria, was 34. She married John Charles Greenfield on December 23, 1869, in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage. She died as a young mother somewhere around 1880 in Brunswick, Georgia, at the age of 25. Her burial site is unknown at this time.

Her husband, John Charles Greenfield, raised all four of her children. The youngest was under 1, so it is believed that she died giving birth. Louisa Curry married John Charles Greenfield in 1880 and became the mother of hy er children.

Any information on Martha Amanda "May" Goodbread (Greenfield) would be so appreciated.

Might there be a mention of her in the local newspaper ie. obituary?  I can find nothing on her burial in the area but that doesn't mean that she isn't there.
No, I have looked. I only see her on the censuses, and the 1880 census I cannot find. Thank you for answering.
You are welcome, do you think that there might have been a family burial ground on one of their farms that might be mentioned in history of the area or about the family?  This is a puzzle.
That is possible. I really don't know.
On whatever search engine you use,  put in the location, the year 1880 and the last name and see what history of the area comes up and you can look for a historical or genealogical group online for the area.

Since she was married, you are searching for Martha Amanda "May"  Greenfield not Goodbread.

Thank you for this site. I have not found anything so far, but I did find a small notice in the The Atlanta Constitution that said:

Died in Georgia      Mrs. John Greenfield of Brunswick. Date of issure is June 14, 1876.

How can I find more about this now that I have a closer date?

Thanks for helping me!

I found a note about her here.

Find a Grave, database and images (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/35557057/william-oliver-greenfield : accessed 14 April 2022), memorial page for William Oliver “Willie” Greenfield (Nov 1870–17 May 1933), Find a Grave Memorial ID 35557057, citing Palmetto Cemetery, Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia, USA ; Maintained by Robert Miller (contributor 46933197) .
Maybe this Robert Miller can help.

Thanks! I checked it out, but it still doesn't give me information about her death date.

I found a small piece in The Atlanta Constitution on June 14, 1876 that Mrs. John Greenfield of Brunswick, Georgia died.

Now that I have that much, I would love to see if it has more about the death.
