On 10 Jun 2022 Louis Ogden II wrote on DeOkeden-1:

Anjou got away with his forged genealogies because he was clever in merging facts with his fictions. In this case, it is a fact an Adam de Okeden married an Avicia Hawise, but the marriage took place at least a century earlier previously credited. Interestingly, Anjou has no responsibility for this addition to the Ogden genealogy. This marriage was added included by another, building off Anjou’s erroneous lineage, probably in a misguided attempt to extend the genealogy even further back. In this case, an Adam de Okeden who did marry Avicia Hawise (Heley) of Heley Hall, Rochdale Parish, Lancashire and this should be revised accordingly. There are multiple sources that define this couples lineage, here is but one that encapsulates it: ”Thomas [Heley], whose sole daughter and heir, named after her grandmother [Hawise or Avicia], married Adam, son of Nicholas de Okeden, in Butterworth, and had a son, Alexander de Okeden, to whom she released all her lands in Spotland, 12 Richard II. (1388). He had issue John de Okeden, who had Alexander and Thomas de Okeden, of Heley, the last-named having a son, Adana de Okeden, of Holey, who enlarged his estate by his marriage with Margaret, daughter and co-heir of Richard Butterworth, by Alison, daughter of Adam de Bucley. His eldest daughter and co-heir, Alice, married John, eldest son and heir of Jordan Chadwyk second son of John Chadwyk of Chadwyk, in Spotland.” Source: Edward Baines, History of the County Palatine and Duchy of Lancaster, volume 3 (London: Heywood, 1888), page 82. Online: https://archive.org/details/cu31924024699286/page/n99/mode/1up. Further, the Ellington Okeden family that Anjou usurped is an actual family that also existed. Anjou created his fiction by appending a male heir to the pedigree that did not exist. It seems equally a shame to show all those folks as having a "Doubtful Existance." Multiple profiles should be modified. I was about to dive in and start making the appropriate corrections and add to the lineages, but I am not certified for pre-1500, so this is the best I can do for now.

Thanks Louis
However although the source looks to be OK and seems to be quoting primary sources, I think if major changes are being made to pre-1500 profiles, we should be searching for primary sources, or at least secondary sources that actually cite primary sources.

There is a Thomas Okeden, son of Adam Okeden in a Concord dated 17 August 1444, but I'm not sure where he fits into the genealogy.

As I said, the referenced secondary source encapsulates the lineage and was intended to make my point that the family existed and therefore the relates profiles should be corrected.  As for a secondary source with references to a primary source, here is one that references the Chartulary of Whalley Abbey: Remains Historical & Literary connected with the Palatine Counties of Lancaster and Chester, vol. XI (Manchester: Chetham Society, 1847), p.596
(https://archive.org/details/coucherbookorcha211manc/page/597/mode/1up).

But my primary point should not be overlooked.  This profile and many of the other profiles touched by Anjou’s false lineage are incorrect.  We owe it to those historical figures who did exist, such as this one, to at least se the record straight.
