I'm looking to extend my tree, but I'm too much of a newbie to go past 1700. Is anyone working on the ancestry of Mary DeMaranville?

I'm beginning to think that "my" Mary DeMaranville is a made up person, tacked on at the end of a long line of John Louis DeMaranville (DeMaranville-137) and Susanna Crapo (Crapo-417) offspring. My relative is supposed to be the youngest in their family of children and her name is supposed to be Mary "Polly" DeMaranville, born in 1751. The known daughter named Mary (DeMaranville-73) wasn't married to a Haskins and was born in 1735.
Well, I know she was real, but the made up part seems to be her parents. I'm just a beginning genealogist and not savvy or experienced enough to figure out who her parents are.

In many ancestry.com listings, she alternately is listed as Mary, Mary Polly, Polly or Polly Mary. The variations of her first name coupled with all the different ways her last name has been spelled could take forever to untangle.

Good find, Jean, and that's what FamilySearch and Find a Grave say. But there don't seem to be specific sources. Could she really have lived to 116?
Good point. I tried ditching the "de" on the front of her surname and searched other variations but no birth records surfaced.  I did find where she married John, Jr Haskins 19 Jun 1793 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q29L-BF68

Mary is listed as Louis's fifth child in  GEORGE L. RANDALL, New Bedford, Mass. 1921's "DeMaranville Genealogy: Descendants of Louis DeMaranvillehttps://archive.org/stream/demaranvillegen00randgoog/demaranvillegen00randgoog_djvu.txt

but he doesn't give any sources. Though it is interesting that the author of the document reports many of that family married Haskins.

On Ancestry (I know it's not the most accurate site); there are many more children than what other sources cite. I have no idea which ones are real and which ones are not--maybe some were servants or grandchildren?  It's highly suspicious that there are two Mary's; one is the 5th child and the other is the last, but the last child, Mary "Polly" apparently went by Polly.

If the marriage/spouse data on the 5th Mary, whom I believe is one of their actual children, is inaccurate then maybe she is the one who married my Haskins relative.

Whoever she is, she is my 4th great grandmother!
