Does anyone have access to Robert W Barnes, British Roots of Maryland Families? I believe the citation sought is in Vol 2, p 223. It has been quoted as "28. Robert "Thornburg," son of Charles (23) and Elizabeth, was b. C1666 Lancashire, Eng. He m. Sarah Jackson, B. c. 1666. They moved to Ireland and were parents of (H): Edward, b.c1687, of Lurgan MM, Co. Armagh, Ireland; Walter, B. C1688; Judith, b c1689, Co. Cavan, Ireland, m. Alexander Miller, b. c1694; and Thomas, b.c1690, C. Cavan, Ireland."

The last time I recall seeing this in print, Barnes offered no documentation for the connection he has given but I would like to verify whether he gives citations and, if so, what they may be. The above quote has been used as basis to significantly rewrite a profile where other highly respected genealogists and researchers say a connection ranges from cannot be confirmed to questionable. Thanks.

Both volumes are at Ancestry (US version).

Sources (more of a bibliography) are present at the beginning of the Thornburg section, and are identified by codes within the bibliography and the text of the sketches.
I have both volumes at work and can check them tomorrow morning, if you still need the info.

Thank you George and Michelle. When I type in the title at Ancestry under Card Catalog it does come up (hurrah), didn't on a general search earlier today.

As George writes above, Barnes gives a bibliography (it begins on the page prior to the share link) at the beginning of the section with various codes used later within context. The code used for the section on Robert "Thornburg" is "H" which is: "Undocumented Thornborough Descendancy Chart in Ancestral File of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (must be used with care)." It would appear that the placement of "H" could indicate an issue documenting the children of Robert but that is not considered an issue among Quaker historians such as Herbert Standing. There is also a reference to person (23) in the section but person (23) and the entries there do not appear to be relevant.

So, Barnes is presenting no documentation for this and as a pre-1700 profile this would not be acceptable in WikiTree. I have asked the Irish Quakers Team to also have a look at this before determining what parts of the altered biography should be reverted to earlier iterations.

Edit: in defense of Barnes I should add that this family has been giving genealogists fits forever.
