Help reading Swiss-German record, 1798

Hello,

I'm looking for reading help with entry #115 on the following birth record.  The record is for Barbara Blaser (Blaser-299), baptized 14 Oct 1798. Her father is Hans Blaser (Blaser-395) and her mother is Magdalena Gerber (Gerber-2856).  I'm looking for help specifically with transcribing the details after Hans' name.  Thank you!

I can't figure out how to attach a photo but the record is on the Canton Bern archives, Langnau 11 Taufrodel (1772-1799)

The detail after the father's name may be information about his death. The word "posthuma" appears below the child's date of birth, which is likely to mean that the father had died before the child was born.
oooh, good call, I should look for him in the death records in the 9 months prior, thanks!
whoops, the last Hans Blaser to die in Langnau died in August 1797, so if his posthumous daughter is born in September 1798, I'm guessing that wasn't his daughter.  Don't have to worry about pursuing that line any further . . .

Unless the correct Hans Blaser died elsewhere, and maybe that's what the notes say?

or would his death still be recorded in the Langnau im Emmental churchbook since that's his Heimantort?  swiss gurus?
Hi
Yes, if his Heimatort was Langnau, then his death should (in theory...) also be registered there, under "Auswärtige" (= those who died in another location than the Heimatort). Birth, marriages and deaths are (in theory...) always registered in both the place where it happened and the Heimatort.

"Birth, marriages and deaths are (in theory...) always registered in both the place where it happened and the Heimatort."

aha!  good to know, thanks!

Here is what I can make of it.

Transcription:

{1798} 115. Blaser: {Parentes:} Hans v. Lprswyl Wth. sonst zu Stettlen. Kam im Krieg um. Magdal. Gerber [….]? hinter der [Bauchi]? im Frittenbach. {Infantes:} Octobr. den 14. Barbara, nata den 2. dito posthuma. {Testes:} Barbara Schwartz, verehel. Strohm im [Ober...]?; Barbara Gerber, Magd zu Kammern; Peter Hofstetter zu Unterhollern im Frittenbach.

Translation:

1798, October 14th (was baptized) Barbara, who was born posthumously on the 2nd the same month. Parents: Hans Blaser from Lauperswil Wittenbach, otherwise in Stettlen, who died in the war, and Magdalena Gerber, [....]?, behind the [Bauchli]? in (the valley of the) Frittenbach. Godparents: Barbara Schwartz, married Strohm, in [Ober...]?; Barbara Gerber, milkmaid in Kammern; Peter Hofstetter in Unterhollern in (the valley of the) Frittenbach.

-------------------

Since I am not really familiar with this region I am not able to dicipher all the locations. But the "Lprswyl Wth." in the text is certainly shortened for Lauperswyl Wittenbach. You can get this also from comparison with other entrys. Wittenbach being a hamlet belonging to Lauperswil near Langnau. And the "sonst zu Stettlen" means that Hans otherwise or before lived in Stettlen, which is another parish like 22 km west of Langnau. So maybe this would be a place to look for him as well.

Awesome!  Thank you so much, Herr Gutknecht!
I'm not good with the old handwriting, but if instead of "verehl. Strohm, in [Ober...]" it could read "Strahm, in Oberthal", then we need to talk again about shared relatives ;-). But I think it is another location.
"Strahm" could well be. But the location is more something like "Oberlehn", if there is such a place near by.
