Conflicting father for Leon W Schiller [Schiller-68] (B. 1867 Birlad, Romania; D. 1938 Avenel, NJ)

I'm looking to resolve a discrepancy in who is the father of Leon W Schiller; WikiTree has Jankel Schiller, and my family tree in ancestry.com has a father of Babette Schiller and mother of Arma Greenberg.  How do I document the two possible fathers or resolve the conflict?

I have the same Leon W Schiller [Schiller-68] (B. 1867 Birlad, Romania; D. 1938 Avenel, NJ) in my ancestry family tree.  With the same son: Oscar Lee Schiller [Schiller-67] (B. 16 Jan 1893 in Birlad, Romania; D. 1 Nov 1954 at age 61 in Perth Amboy, Middlesex, NJ).  I added Oscar Lee Schiller's first wife, their kids, as well as Oscar Lee Schiller's brothers and sisters.

The WikiTree has Leon W Schiller's father as Jankel Schiller [Schiller-69] (b. ~1840 Birlad, Romania; D. ?).

However, Ida (Luttenburg) Schiller (Luttenburg-1] (B. 22 Jun 1911 in Bucuresti, Bucuresti, Romania; D. 19 Mar 2008 at age 96 in Avenel, Woodbridge Township, Middlesex, NJ) told me first hand (and wrote) that Leon W Schiller's (and all of his brothers and sisters') father was Babette Schiller, and mother was Arma Greenberg.  She further told me that Babette Schiller's father was Gevosalaya Schiller (B. Birlad, Romania), believing that everyone called him Landes.  Furthermore I added Leon W Schiller's brothers and sisters.

Is there an easy way to document the possible alternate father, or otherwise resolve the conflict?

Any Advice on how best to proceed?

You can always put a "Research Notes" section in the profile, to document questions, theories, dead ends etc.

Medium term I would suggest trying to contact the National Archives of Vaslui county ( http://arhivelenationale.ro/site/directii-judetene/vaslui/ ), for lookup in the church books that should be archived there. This applies for books until 1895. For younger records, you would need to ask here: https://ep.cjvs.eu/

I've heard of successful  replies to English emails from both of these organizations in other counties already.

I would also suggest to contact people that have other data and ask them for their sources.

Babette is almost certainly a wrong name, as that's a feminine name, not a masculine one. It's still possible that it might be something other than Jankel. so I wouldn't take that as confirmation in and of itself that Jankel is correct -- but it's incredibly implausible that a man in that era would ever have been named Babette.
