I work for Purdue University, and just wrote a story about an extraordinary artifact we found: an unfinished diploma from 1892, still in mint condition: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ME/News/2022/unfinished-the-mystery-of-the-130yearold-diploma
The short version of the story: the recipient, Carlton Carpenter Witt, left school before graduating in 1892, but returned in 1900 and actually finished his degree. You can read his story for the other details.
We want to give this diploma to his family. But unfortunately, according to my research, there are no living descendants of Carlton Carpenter Witt, or any of his close relatives.
I'm not a genealogist, but I thought someone else might want to tackle this to see if there are any living relatives I overlooked.
I didn't see Carl Witt in Wikitree, so here are his specifics: Carlton Carpenter Witt, born 15 Dec 1870 in Indianapolis, IN; died 17 Dec 1930. His father was Bennett Fryar Witt, born 17 Feb 1830, and died 03 May 1892 in Indianapolis, IN. I got that info from this page: https://sites.google.com/site/kathrynsplace/genealogy-witt
Who might be willing to help us give this diploma to someone who would value it?
