Where was Anna Andersson born and who are her parents?

I have two DNA matches that I'm trying to solve and I believe the connection is through Anna Anderson or Claus Johnson. I'm guessing that the birth location of Borås was passed down since I couldn't find a source for it, or her birth record in riksarkivet. I'm guessing that Anna and Claus emmigrated from Sweden together in 1888 and he died or they separated before the 1900 census.

If they emigrated in 1888, they should both be in the 1880 Swedish census, which you can search at riksarkivet.se Anna was probably Anna Andersdotter or Anna Andersson, and Claus Johnson would probably have been Claes Johansson or Klaes Johansson. Since his is the more unusual name, he is probably easier to find, unless you know her middle name. How certain are you of their birth years?

Also note that if they were from the city of Borås, their birth records may be listed in one of the Borås city parishes but there are also a few surrounding parishes e.g. Torpa, which could apply in the years they were born, since the parish borders have moved around a bit and parishes have been incorporated into another. -Elisa

Thanks for responding Elisa. Checking the census information on Riksarkivet crossed my mind, but the person search tab seems to have disappeared for me. I need to find where they moved it to. I'm not completely certain about their birth information, since the sources on familysearch are vague. Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at the adjacent parishes as well.
The census search page has been improved an has moved here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/folkrakningar
Thanks for sharing the new census search location. It's good to know it has been improved.

Looking at the profile of Anna Anderson, there is an unsourced profile for a mother by name Ingrid Brita Jacobson. There are five hits for Ing* Bri* Jakobs* in Folkräkningar 1880. The most promising one is Inga Britta Jakobsdotter, born 1829, living in Norra Ryr, Göteborgs och Bohus län, who has a daughter Anna Kristina, born in 1860.

Looking at the family in a household record where the father is still alive - Lane-Ryr (O) AI:7 (1861-1867) Bild 164 / sid 158 - his name is Anders Andersson. Anna Christina's birth date is 22 April 1860.

Anna Christina goes to work in Uddevalla and then in Göteborg. She is a factory worker in Gamlestan and then emigrates in January 1888 - Göteborgs Gamlestad (O) AI:6 (1888-1889) Bild 86 / sid 331.

This looks like the source for the mother "Ingrid Brita Jacobson" of an "Anna C Anderson". Birth date and birth place for Anna is off, so this may be a wild goose chase, caused by some undisclosed matching at Ancestry or somesuch.

Thanks Eva, that is a promising lead! I'll look into it more and see if it leads to a connection with my ancestors. That is a good point that the sources for the parents might be off and taken by mistakes on Ancestry.
