Want to help Commemorate the Missing?

Announcing that the Anzacs Project is participating in the Pick a Soldier, Plant a Tree project, commemorating the Missing of World War One with a genealogical memorial!

There is information at the Pick a Soldier, Plant a Tree Free Space Page about the project on WikiTree and on the Anzacs Project page there is advice on how to be involved in remembering our missing soldiers who fought for Australia and New Zealand in World War One.

All you need to do is identify soldiers who were killed in action in World War One and whose body was never recovered: create their profile, add their WikiTree URL to the Commemorating the Missing Database , add them to the relevant Pick a Soldier, Plant a Tree categories, and build their tree!

Hi Karyn, the work you are doing with profiles in the Menin Gate category is really useful. Thanks so much for that!
Thank you Gillian! I have just found a soldier that I have a dna connection with! It is very rewarding, and a great project!

I found my 1st cousin twice removed on the database. I'd already created a profile for him so linked it in. His service file says where he was buried (Bon Fermier Gully, Messines), so he wasn't actually missing. He is memorialized on a collective cross in the Messines British Cemetery and on the Adelaide War memorial, South Australia.

A worthy project.

Thanks Christine. That’s interesting - maybe he shouldn’t be in the database. I’ll look into that. What is his wiki-ID?

I found my ancestor on the database and I added a link to his Wikitree profile

Christopher Murray (1890 - 1917)

I thought I'd found a family name among the missing.  He isn't a relative of mine, but he is one of three brothers listed!  [[Hunter-14367|Frederick Emerton Hunter (1888-1915)]] already had a WT Profile, so I've made the links, have added his father and will work on his brothers.
