Not directly relevant to the question, but many years ago I was at the unveiling of a family tree that I can only refer to as 'an installation'.

It was an 8 or 9 foot tall cut-out of a tree, painted with leaves, bark, and birds nests, and all the names and vital dates of each family member painted over top in very fine script and connected with painted on twigs and branches. It was mounted semi-permanently in the eldest family member's back yard, and they had some plan for bolting on extra sections to the tree as needed.

I had my father-in-law's line printed...it was about 14 ft long. I think I stopped at 20 generations.

Not  as of yet but that is one of my plans.

Currently  I am working on a poster type that I am outlining a tree background and attaching  coinholder discs with picture and dates with velcro.
