Did Newspapers.com Break WikiTree Sourcer?

Suddenly today, WikiTree Sourcer doesn’t seem to be recognizing Newspaper.com clipping pages. It didn’t work this morning when I was using Chrome, and tonight it has the same problem on Safari.

Is anyone else noticing this?

Yes.  I'm seeing the same problem.
Just curious: does it still work with WikiTree BEE?
Did you see that Newspapers.com now provides it's own source citation for us to cut/paste? The button for copying their source citation is below the clipping so you may have to scroll down the clipping page a bit.

I am new to Sourcer but also can't get it to work for Newspapers.com.  When I go to a file I have found there, it says.

  • WikiTree Sourcer doesn't know how to extract data from this page.

It looks like a Newspapers.com page but not a clip page.
It needs to be a clipping page.  If you're on a regular page you've found through searching/browsing, you'll need to create a clipping for Sourcer to work.  If you've already done that, what is the URL of the page that isn't working?

Yes, there was a small change in the HTML layout of the Newspapers.com clipping page.

I have a fix coming in the next release which I will try to submit today.

Thank you so much. I didn't realize how much I was using the app there, until I found myself copy/pasting previous citations and substituting the new information.
I have uploaded a new version. It is available for Firefox now. It can take a few hours for the update to be reviewed and available for Chrome and Safari.

I found this external template and it seems to work well with formatting. I hope it is still recommended for usage as I just found it within the last week on WikiTree:

<ref>{{EE citation
|accessdate=9 October 2023
|newspaper=The Plain Dealer
|pages=2, col. 4
|publication-date=Friday, 9 August 1850
|location=Roslyn, New York
|publisher=digital images, ''NYS Historic Newspapers''}}
{{Newspapers.com|132738814}}</ref>

Maybe it will help until the issue gets resolved.

This is the output:

The Plain Dealer, (Roslyn, New York: digital images, NYS Historic Newspapers, Friday, 9 August 1850), accessed 9 October 2023, pp.2, col. 4. Newspapers Clip: 132738814

NOTE: In this example, the newspaper clip does not match the record, it's just an example.

EE citation template page states that is a 'source' template that is not approved.  Old uses of it are getting suggestion 896 for unknown parameter, also.

WT Sourcer doesn't work with Genealogy Bank.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Sourcer_supported_sites
