Site maintenance last week

[announcement updated]

WikiTreers,

Last week we updated our server operating system and programming language. This was necessary to keep the site stable and secure, and to enable some performance enhancements.

We need to ask for your help and patience.

The update is complete, but there are some remaining issues around the site. For example, there is a problem with categorization. There are probably other bugs we have not spotted.

If you spot any sort of problem, please report it here by clicking the answer button. (To keep things organized, comments at the top will be hidden or moved once read.)

Thanks for understanding. This community is special and your work here is important. Our job is to make sure you have a stable and secure platform.

Onward and upward,

Chris and the WikiTree Team

Someone's gotta feed the hamsters, eh, Chris?

Hopefully, everything goes well on the server side of things. If there's a problem, I'm sure someone'll let ya know. Here's hoping for a smooth transition. Thanks for the head's up! Onward and upward indeed. Thanks for explaining everything! =D

Now to feed the Italy Project's hamster, Guido....

Ciao Chris, I think they are gerbils, or gremlins...hopefully cute, nice little gremlins...
Ciao Chris! How did you know that 'The Phrasemaster' was one of my (and my mum's) favorites?! My kid sister's is Dean, and I know she is playing his Chrismas tunes in Wisconsin as I write this comment in Tucson, AZ! Thanks for the Gremlin show!
I dunno why but I have a soft spot for Gremlins 2. It's just so goofy. Plus we get Robert Picardo before he became the Doctor on Voyager.

Only weird thing I noticed that was that the work I copied from one profile and pasted to their spouse in new profile creation lost all the blank lines so all the text was smushed together for the new profile.

I’m on my phone and reading G2G- the layout is not working  …. Gotta pinch and zoom going left to right.
by Elaine Martzen G2G6 Pilot (171k points)
Hmm, it looks like the mobile theme isn't being recognized.
Elaine, can you check to see if it is back to normal now?
Yes, it’s working like usual. Yay!

I was working when the notification came up.  I saved, then continued my work in a notepad.  I was not logged out, so saved when ready to update.

Worked perfectly.

So far.

Not sure if it is related, but something goes wrong if I try to edit the space page

Right now I am see the WT page banner and controls over top of the profile header. The banner is frozen as you scroll down even over the edit page. I am using the chrome browser. This is not an issue on Safari.
by Christol James G2G6 (8.8k points)
Same for me ... and it's fine on the G2G pages, it makes it easy to access the menus.  But on Wiki pages, it overwrites the content, making it hard to read.
Same thing is happening to me.  I have to scroll to see what is under the banner.
Hi guys. Is it possible you are using the WikiTree browser extension? If so, do you have the same problem if you turn the extension off?
This sounds like the Sticky Header in WBE.  It'll be fine once the banner is gone.
This was also happening to me, but stopped when I turned the Sticky Header off in the WikiTree browser extension.
CORRECTION: I like the Sticky Header. But the problem went away when I turned the WikiTree Browser Extension off.  It did not go away when I turned the WIkiTree Sourcer extension off (I selected the wrong extension to turn off before).

TRUE: I still think that perhaps it is because the real estate blocked for the header to not scroll does not include the space for the notification itself.  Once the notification is gone, maybe it will work even with Sticky Headers . . .? This is working without the notification, just fine.

Good Work!
Sticky header went away when I turned it off just now.
