New member introducing myself

Greetings!

I'm on the hobbyist end of the genealogist spectrum. The thing I like best is discovering people's stories. My father told me "Don't go looking into family history, you'll find a horse thief." I haven't found one of those yet, but I have found heroes and villains.

I'm very interested in proving what I think I know. That seems to me a good match for WikiTree. I have lots of proposed connections that my family gives me with no sources. Finding a document for one of those is a great feeling of discovery.

I have found it's easier finding sources for more recent generations. When I get into the early 1800s I hit brick walls like finding there are 3 people of the same name in the same county at the same time, and I haven't yet sorted out who is who.

Looking forward to getting to know this world.

Welcome Cousin to WikiTree!heart  21st Cousin

Now, like most people, you might say, "21st Cousin is so far out, that's nothing!"  But you and I share a grand mother, and I think that is AMAZING!wink

Glenn Holliday and David Draper are both descendants of Joan (Geneville) de Mortimer (1286-1356).  Yep, that's grandmaw!laugh

How did I find that?  Stick around! Hold on to your hat!  You are in for one heck of an experience!  We are here to help.

WikiTree is full of undiscovered family! Your family!  My Family! Every contribution you add strengthens MY connections.  We can show you some very powerful tools to help you find your family.  Those tools are free.   The easy way to find those tools (apps) are listed on my profile page.  I put them there so I could find them again!

That is cool, and thanks Dave. I'm looking forward to reviewing that chain you suggested. I'm sure I could lose myself in reading just that one for a long time.

Not sure why some replies have a Reply link and others have a comment link, but thanks.

That is one of the beauties of WikiTree, with the biography text section (or whatever it's called) you have a lot of freedom to work out and write about your ancestor's life. You are also free to create all three profiles to easier distinguish between them. And therein lies the addiction!

Thanks Lucy. Yes, I hope I'll be entering some stories in biographies along the way.
