This fifth child of Abel and Nancy (Wood) Shields must have been raised by another family. Nancy died in October of 1842 and Dinah would have been barely two years old. In 1852 Abel and his second wife moved their family to Bartholomew County, Indiana and Dinah was not with them. Would love to know who raised Dinah Thank you!

Dinah is listed in the 1850 and 1860 census with her father and step mother....

At the time of the 1850 and 1860 Census, where did this family live?  And how old was Dinah?  She should have been ca 10 and 20.  If her adoptive father was also an Abel, how old was he?
